FARM FRESH SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAM

You rely on us to make responsible business decisions that will not only affect you individually, but also employees, our communities and our world. Recognizing the importance of action as well as education, Fresh Ideas strives to promote campus sustainability and to foster ecological education through our Farm Fresh Sustainability Program. The United Nations' Brundtland Report [Our Common Future: The Report of the World Commission on Environment and Development] defines sustainability as "development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." At Fresh Ideas, we are doing our part to support this important social initiative by:

  • Providing sustainability-related learning experiences inside and outside the formal food services scope. Through the adoption of our "Trayless Tuesday" program, Fresh Ideas encourages students to think about conservation and waste reduction.
  • Equipping students, faculty and staff with the tools, knowledge, and motivation to adopt behavioral changes that promote global and personal sustainability.
  • Minimizing waste by reducing, reusing and recycling.
  • Building a sustainable economy by developing a purchasing policy that seeks environmentally and socially preferable goods and services.
  • Anchoring sustainability through strategic planning incorporation
  • Envisioning sustainability beyond the boundaries of our client facilities by developing partnerships and collaboration with outside groups and institutions like the Missouri Farm to School initiative.
